Living In The New Life
When we first meet Jesus and embark on the journey of salvation, an invitation is extended to step into a new life—a life liberated from the death grip of sin and filled with the hope of our salvation. This Debut single from Sabin is a declaration and response to this truth.
I still find myself asking those simple questions: Why do I still do that? How come I still live with so much fear? When is it supposed to get easier? When Melanie Tierce, Kaden Slay, Andrea C. Hunter, and I wrote this song, it was as if the Lord gave us the words to sing in these moments. It isn’t some clever phrasing that we conjured up; we actually got it from the Bible, specifically from verses like the one in 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV):
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"
Or the one in Romans 6:1-4, which says:
"What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."
These verses emphasize the transformative power of being in Christ, symbolizing a fresh start and a new way of living. "We're living in the new life" – we were pulled out from the darkness and made righteous by the blood of Jesus. By coming to this earth and dying for our sins, he made a way. Now, we have an invitation from him to be a part of this. When we realized all these truths, the three of us knew this was something that we needed to write into a melody. I pray that this song is a blessing to you, and you are reminded that the old is gone and the new has come. Every day, I am praying that I become more and more like him.
